Habitat: Common in fine sandy loam over Goliad Formation, on partially shaded edges of truck road through mesquite-granjeno woodland in dry bottom of shallow narrow drainage. Associates include Aphanostephus ramosissimus, Argemone sanguinea, Buchloe dactyloides, Cenchrus spinifex, Chloris cucullata, Convolvulus equitans, Croton lindheimerianus, Daucus pusillus, Dyssodia tenuiloba, Gaura brachycarpa, Glandularia quadrangulata, Justicia pilosella, Lepidium lasiocarpum var. wrightiii, Lesquerella lasiocarpa, Linum berlandieri, Nama hispidum, Nerisyrenia camporum, Nyctaginea capitata, Oenothera laciniata, O. cf. rosea, Palafoxia texana, Pennisetum ciliare, Psilostrophe gnaphalioides, Rhynchosida physocalyx, Sphaeralcea pedatifida, Tridens texanus, and Verbena plicata.
Phenology: flowering + fruiting=mid
