Common among rocks and boulders in mixed open shrubland on moderately steep S-facing moderately xeric slope of Edwards Limestone. This species was common to abundant in all habitats on preserve in spring 2001. Woody associates at this site include Acacia sp., Agave lechuguilla, Berberis trifoliata, Condalia viridis, Dasylirion texanum, Diospyros texana, Eysenhardtia texana, Forestiera angustifolia, Fouquieria splendens, Heliotropium torreyi, Leucophyllum frutescens, Opuntia cf. lindheimeri, and Yucca treculeana.
