Habitat: Rare in partial shade of pecan-elm riparian woodland on alluvial sand on high steep bank of small but perennial creek draining ranching landscape underlain by Goodland Limestone and Paluxy Sand. Associates include Ambrosia trifida, Arundo donax, Carya illinoinensis, Celtis laevigata, Chasmanthium latifolium, Conoclinium coelestinum, Elymus virginicus, Equisetum laevigatum, Panicum virgatum, Platanus occidentalis, Populus deltoides, Prunus angustifolia, Sapindus saponaria, Sorghum halepense, Toxicodendron radicans, Ulmus americana.
Phenology: flowering=early
