Plants were on wooded floodplain of small tributary in light shade of mesic woods near road edge. Inches of dead leaves carpeted the floodplain. Base soil was a well-drained loamy alluvium.
Upright tender plants were liberally scattered throughout floodplain among Claytonia virginica and Dentaria
Flower color varied from light lavender to deep lavender rose. Specimens represent average size plants, but had the darkest color.
