United States, Colorado, Mesa, Gateway Palisade Natural Area N of Gateway between CO hwy 141 (West Creek) & Dolores R., ca. 0.75mi. S of northern Natural Area boundary, on W side of Palisade just below first saddle S of spires 6719.

Chinle Formation. In red gritty clay, on bench at base of steep slope; well developed Sabina osteosperma-Pinus edulis-Fraxinus anomalus community with associated shrubs Rhus trilobata, Symphoricarpos longiflorus, Purshia stansburiana and Galium...; very common.
Veg
Low, sprawling shrub to 5 ft. high; no flowers or fruit; NAD 27. 7.5' Gateway quad.
