This emergent species is most common in muck bottom areas in areas with water <0.5m. Common assoc.: (Typha latifolia) broad-leaved cattail, (Sparganium eurycarpum) common bur-reed, (Phalaris arundinacea) reed canary grass, (Cicuta bulbifera) blue-bearing water hemlock, (Calla palustris) water arum.
It was abundant near the river inlet on the lake and common along mucky shoreline areas of little lake.
