Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Shrub invaded or transition zone in woodland. Viburnum sp., Cornus sp., and Toxicodendron vernix are common in shrub later. Carex stricta and Symplocarpus foetidus dominate herbaceous layer.
