Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Open area surrounded by shrubs; mostly Cornus spp. On North, East, and South sides. Toxicodendron vernix in area; many old Schoenoplectus stems as well.
Flowers -NA.Scattered in area; about 2 per sq. m for 10 sq. m; ranging from 10cm to 40cm tall; none in flower; prefers a little more open microclimate.
