Within a tangle of Vitis rotundifolia, Lonicera japonica, and Smilax bona-nox. Principal dominants were oaks - especially post, water, and blackjack - as well as mockernut hickory and wild or black cherry.
Spindly shrub. Hgt. ca. 7 ft.; wdth. ca 4 ft. Flower clusters fairly showy. Petals white witha slight greenish yellow tinge. Anthers and pollen pale yellow; filaments white. Ovary inferior. Style, stigma, and fl. stalks pale green, the stalks somewhat rusty-scurfy. Calyx lobes also pale green, some with light, reddish-purple tips. Lvs. bright green, somewhat lustrous, a trifle paler beneath. Petioles purplish on adaxial surface; their under surface is rufescent-scurfy-hairy, this indument extending along midribs and, more sparsely, onto adjacent blade surfaces.
