Prairie fen surrounded by small wood pockets and agricultural fields. Several vegetaion zones: sedge meadow, wooded, marl. Most previlent species include Cyperaceae, Dasiphora fruticosa, Cornus, Symplocarpus foetidus, and Typha. Some Phalaris arundinacea near woods on north section of fen. Many small creeks zig-zag fen (less than 1m wide). Woody cover includes Larix laricina, Betula pumila, other birches, and Toxicodendron vernix. In southeast section of fen, about 20m north of flagpole and 75m west of forest on eastern border near the Michigan-Indiana state line. Area dominated by Carex with Dasiphora fruticosa, Poaceae, and Cornus. Shrubs encroaching, saplings found every 1m2. Deer trail or ATV tracks with standing water run through quadrat. Ground with many tussocks. Ant mounds in center of quadrat.
