Prairie fen surrounded by small wood pockets and agricultural fields. Several vegetaion zones: sedge meadow, wooded, marl. Most previlent species include Cyperaceae, Dasiphora fruticosa, Cornus, Symplocarpus foetidus, and Typha. Some Phalaris arundinacea near woods on north section of fen. Many small creeks zig-zag fen (less than 1m wide). Woody cover includes Larix laricina, Betula pumila, other birches, and Toxicodendron vernix. In eastern portion of prairie fen, 100m west of the corn field, 200m south of northern border, 10m north of Schoenoplectus area. Sedge and Asteraceae meadow encroached by shrubs of Cornus and Toxicodendron vernix. Dominant herbaceous vegetation includes Carex stricta, Andropogon gerardii, Dasiphora fruticosa, and Symphyotrichum firmum. Ground hummock and moist to wet.
Population - Loosely grouped. Some reaching 70cm. Branching, few flowering. Ligules 1mm.
