Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Meadow dominated by grass and prairie species; Dasiphora fruticosa, Rudbeckia fulgida, Cladium mariscoides, Allium cernuum, Solidago ohioensis. Ground moist but low water table; about 30m east of woodland and about 200m west of stream; Toxicodendron vernix, Larix laricina growing scattered on woodland edge.
Flowers -light purple; 3 petals; 3 sepal. Pale yellow stamens; nodding inflorescence.Common in area; about 205 individuals per sq. m. Flowering in area. Seen with Dasiphora fruticosa, Rudbeckia fulgida, and Poaceae.
