Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Boggy area that is very wet; springy ground; lots of shrubs with some open pockets; shrubs include Salix sp. Betula pumila, Cornus sericea, and Frangula alnus. Significant amounts of Typha latifolia, Sagittaria latifolia, Lythrum salicaria. Also present is Eutrochium maculatum, Impatiens capensis, Carex stricta.
