Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Carex stricta dominated area between Salix thickets; about 30m south of woodland upland Toxicodendron vernix in area; other species in include Impatiens capensis, Eutrochium maculatum, Onoclea sensibilis, Campanula aparinoides. Ground wet but not inundated. Starting to rain...
