Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Sedge meadow with encroaching shrubs, most of which is Frangula alnus. Toxicodendron vernix, Acer rubrum in area; quadrat immediately west of large Acer rubrum. Other species include Symphyotrichum firmum, Solidago patula, Eutrochium maculatum, Oxypolis rigidior; ground wet but not inundated; stream located about 10m north.
