New Cornelius Mine in the expansion of the south side of the pit; plant was collected on the north slopes of the Arkansas Mountains and Pinnacle Peak, rocky slopes on north facing slope; Section 27, T12S R6W; elevation 610 m; aspect 360 on rocky, north-facing slope.

Mound with 20 stems; stem color gray-green; axial spines white with dark tips, hooked spine dark reddish-brown; flowers collected late morning, flower diameter 35-36 mm, length 25-27 mm, outer perianth pink with a wide (or thin) reddish-brown midstripe, inner perianth pale pink with a hot pink midstripe.
