Thin, irregular stand of Gleditsia triacanthos, Quercus bicolor, Fraxinus pensylvanica, Betula nigra, Acer saccharinum. Unshaded mud along edge of river.
Prostrate and fleshy, deep purple stems. Several plants here on unshaded mud along edge of river, and all of the same habitat. The habit and aspect are entirely different from the more commonly seen erect herbs of this species (none seen right here today)
