Fall color well developed. Lfts. and rachis wings a deep, somewhat suppressed red above; beneath, they were decidedly paler, dullish green, with pinkish tinges. Twigs gray. Small shrubs, the hgts. varying from ca. 1.5 to 4 ft., averaging ca, 2.5 ft.
In the company of Androoogon ternari- us, Lechea mucronata, Rubus cuneifolius, and Heterotheca subaxillaris. Near thicket of Chickasaw plum.
