Associated Species: Bouteloua curtipendula, B. gracilis, Cercocarpus montanus, Cylindropuntia imbricata, Echinocereus triglochidiatus, Eriogonum umbellatum, Opuntia engelmannii, O. macrorhiza, O. phaeacantha, Quercus Âșundulata, and Yucca baccata.
Description: Infrequent, stems generally solitary; n=11 from meiosis of microgametogenesis from individual in cultivation (outside), Chino Valley, Arizona; flowers photographed and collected (2), each from a different individual than that for the chromosome determination; one flower (21mm long) pale yellow-green, tinged red-purple dorsally towards midrib, especially for lower tepals; the other flower (31mm long) with very little yellow or green pigment, translucent, and with more red-purple tinge.
