Moist prairie with Salix petiolaris, Phalaris arundinacea, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Rosa blanda, Asclepias incarnata, and Heliopsis helianthoides. Area embodied within extensive lowland prairie (900 acres) on huge outwash sand terrace along the Wisconsin River. Robust branched perennial 1.8 m tall, stem 27 mm thick at very base (right at soil level); roots, or some of them, tuberous-thickened. Sheet 3 of 3.
