Common in open to partly shaded former pasture along creek, with Thalictrum dasycarpum, Poa pratensis, Teucrium canadense, Quercus macrocarpa, Ulmus americana. Plants 1.5-2.5m tall, with 3-5 inflos. Basal leaf & 1 or 2 cauline leaves before the leaves of the inflo.;stems still green but all cauline leaves have withered. Except for most vigorous plants, fruit has developed only on terminal inflor.
