Habitat: Slash pine forest along banks of bayou. Soil characteristics: Harleston fine sandy loam, 2 to 5 percent slopes (329) - deep, moderately well drained, moderately permeable soils, formed in marine or stream deposits consisting of thick beds of sandy loam. Associate plant species: Pinus elliottii, Baccharis halimifolia, Eupatorium serotinum, Cyperus virens, Rumex verticillatus, Bolboschoenus roobustus, Typha latifolia, Hibiscus grandiflorus, Panicum urvillei, Vigna luteola, Neptunia pubescens var. pubescens, Rubus trivialis, Euthamia leptocephala. Abundant.
