Habitat: Very rare in disturbed powerline corridor opening in hardpan forest with canopy dominated by Quercus marilandica and Carya carolinae-septentrionalis, near the Blackjack Oaks Heritage Preserve and adjacent to quarry operation and high-voltage powerline clearing. Growing in areas of bare soil, frequently flooded in association with Scirpus pendulus.
