Locality: United States, North Carolina, Yancey, Vegetation of High-elevation outcrops of the Southern Appalachians. Mt. Craig: on 6° slope facing NNW.
Habitat: heavily trampled trail area. Top of rock outcrop at 2031m, on 6 percent slope facing NNW, soils organic, ph=4, outcrop borders Spruce-Fir Forest. Co-occurring with Saxifraga michauxii, Rubus idaeus, Solidago glomerata, Carex misera, Rubus spp., Sambucus canadensis, Carex debilis.
