Some plants nearby were Digitaria sanguinalis, Rumex crispus, Verbena rigida, Wahlenbergia marginata, and Ipomoea trichocarpa. Below roadbank and beyond ditch was a floodplain forest.
Several strong-scented herbs. Plants with glandular resin dots throughout. Panicles of spikes, grossly viewed, were light, dullish green. Some cymules, especially toward tips of spikes, were in part pale yellow, much of this color due to young anthers. Mature anthers and freshly released pollen also light yellow. Filaments off-white, translucent, flattened. Lvs. medium green with but a trace of luster. Smaller stems of similar color, shading, below, to a purplish red hue. Stems angular and grooved, decumbent to suberect, several from a fleshy root. Hgts. ca. 2.5 to 4 ft.; wdths. somewhat greater.
