Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Surrounded by Larix laricina, but the quadrat is in the opening; Dasiphora fruticosa, Iris virginica, and Carex stricta in the opening. Toxicodendron vernix, Rhamnus alnifolia, and Larix laricina on edges of opening. 40m east of upland forest.
