Floodplain on flat valley bottom with gravelly benches of rocks derived from sandstone, grantic, gneiss, etc. Surrounding slopes steep, mostly sedimentary and metasedimentary substrates. Vegetation on slopes mostly scrub of Salcia leucophylla, S. mellifera, Eriogonum fasciculatum, and Artemisia californica. Riparian elements such as Salix lasiolepis, S. laevigata, S. exigua, Baccharis salicifolia, and Populus fremontii developed along stream channels, but most benches somewhat disturbed.
