Abandoned RR ROW through former prairie area, completely overgrown, the E side with a few individual prairie plants barely persisting, the W side quite wooded, with trees now reaching 10m tall and patches of understory herbs (Hydrophyllum virginianum,. Gallium aparine). Prairie spp. with weedy tendencies occupy the roadbed gravel between the ties. Rich damp soil, in semishade, on weedy railroad bank. Perennial, 2.1m tall; stems & petioles fistulose; 5th leaf up the lowest with an inflorescence; anthers dark olive-colored. Common. Sheet 1 of 5.
