Seeds obtained with the assistance of Milton J. Haar (Ecologist, Badlands National Park); DNA extraction 58; Sheet 1 of 2; Erect; densely farinose; leaves rhombic with faint pair of lateral lobes, toothed margin above basal lobes; inflorescences erect, glomerules densely clustered in compound spikes, with leaf-like bracts; apetalous flowers; fruits utricles, keeled (but not as severely as typical for this species); pericarp adherent displaying a honeycomb-pitted texture; seeds black, 1.1-1.3 mm diam.
