Vascular plants of NE US and adjacent Canada
Fr transversely ellipsoid, cordate at base, notched at summit, laterally flattened, the ribs low and obtuse; oil-tubes 1-3 in the intervals, 9-11 on the commissure; carpophore wanting; umbel sessile, compound, subtended by one reduced foliage lf; umbellets 2-4; involucel of spatulate foliaceous bractlets; sep obsolete; pet white, not inflexed; stylopodium none; perennial from a globose tuber, bearing a few ternately decompound lvs and a simple terminal umbel of comparatively large, nearly sessile fls. Monospecific.
